Conditions for renting a 125cc scooter

In Mallorca and, generally, throughout Spain, you can ride a motorcycle up to 125cc with any of the following driving licenses:

1. With a type B car driving license. It is crucial that this license was issued at least three years ago or more. If your car license does not meet this age requirement, you cannot ride 125cc scooters in Mallorca. While it is not possible in Germany and in France only two years are required, Spain follows local regulations, not those of the country where the license was issued.
2. With a specific motorcycle driving license, such as categories A1, A2, or A. The AM license for mopeds is not accepted for 125cc scooters. This type of license only allows riding 50cc scooters, and these can also be ridden with a car license without any experience. Please note that DKMotos Rental does not offer 50cc scooters.

If you have a driving license from outside the European Union, you will also need to present an international driving permit (IDP), which validates the different types of driving licenses.

Conditions for renting motorcycles over 125cc

Depending on the motorcycle’s power, there are two requirements regarding the driving license:

1. For motorcycles with a power of up to 35kW (47hp): a motorcycle license of class A2 or A is required.
2. For motorcycles with a power exceeding 35kW (47hp): a class A motorcycle driving license is required.

Keep in mind that if your driving license is from the United Kingdom and has a 79(3) restriction, even if you have a class A license, you will not be able to rent motorcycles in Mallorca, as it is limited to tricycles.

If your driving license is from a country outside the European Union, you will need to accompany it with an international driving permit (IDP), which certifies the different types of licenses.

Do I need previous experience riding motorcycles?

If you want to rent a motorcycle during your vacation in Mallorca, regardless of the type, it is necessary to have prior experience riding a similar motorcycle.

At DKMotos Rental, we prioritize the safety of our customers, and it is preferable to avoid unnecessary risks. Mallorca, especially in Palma, can have significant traffic in urban areas.

• If you have no previous experience riding a motorcycle, it is recommended to learn at a driving school where you can acquire the necessary skills.
• It is not advisable to rent a high-powered motorcycle if it has been a long time, for example, more than a decade, since the last time you rode a similar motorcycle.
